Honey Bee Stamps Hog Heaven and Chocolate

Ok I was having a day. We all know those days. I wanted to dive in a pool of chocolate and pastries but I am on a diet. So I sent this cute pig from Honey Bee Stamps into the pool of chocolate and pastries. This is a great set - see link below. She doesn't like her shading so I will be making another perhaps with a male pig. Please notice the gold halo that is for me since I did not break my diet LOL!

My Sweet Petunia Misti and Renke Blog Hop

I have a card for today's collaborative blog hop between My Sweet Petunia and Alexandra Renke. Oh products I have received would be hoarded forever except I had an assignment to complete - they are that nice! The stamps are of the highest quality photo-polymer and the dies cut like butter. The paper is a cardmaker's dream. It is beautifully patterned, heavy weight and card fronts can be made from it without a cracked fold. Seriously, the paper was so yummy that I had a very difficult time cutting it. The picture does not do the papers justice at all.

I used the star border stamp to make strips of paper and cut three sheets of 12 x 12" paper into triangles to make the card front. I then die cut the sentiment out from the You Are Sweet die which despite its delicacy - cut so very easily. Here is a close up of the paper and stamping. Please excuse it.

Since this is a blog hop, there are prizes! Please leave a comment on each blog you visit. Two winners will be selected from all the blogs. One winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the My Sweet Petunia store and the other will win a $50 gift certificate to!!! Comments need to be entered by 11:59PM, Sunday, June 17th. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, June 19th on the My Sweet Petunia and Alexandra Renke's blogs. Have fun hoping. Next on the list is Judith Versluis whom I am sure has something beautiful to share with you!!

Craftin Desert Divas June Release Day 2

CDD release week is so much fun!!! This month I had the pleasure of working with our new Waves set and the new Ice Cream Treat sets. I have four cards for today. First up the most important to me!!!

The Gators' Baseball Team is playing in the Regionals as I wrote this - I hope they are going to the College World Series as this is published. This is a very versatile set. You can give your Gator royal blue and orange scales when you are a Gators fan! Go Gators!

Next up is my surfer dude. I cut the surf boards by repeatedly stamping the gator surfer and cutting off the board.

Next up are my three cones from the Ice Cream Treat set. I FINALLY got out my Zigs and found that I actually liked them but only on Bristol Smooth card stock.
And finally, one of my favs - the upside down strawberry cone but with all its drips it looks like an octopus - I am betting that was on purpose!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying release week. Products go live in the store on Friday whoo hoo!!

How to Fix Mistakes Week on Craftin Desert Divas

DT Susan happy to be up on the blog with a few of my most used techniques - most used not favorites - there is a difference lol!!! I make a LOT of mistakes while crafting. I think everyone does. The card is one which I have already posted as a Mood Board card for May but I wanted to show you that a repaired card looks as good as one that has no mistakes. See below.

First mistake, I used Wilted Violet Distress Oxide for ink blending. I, then, splattered it with some perfect peals and then I stuck the palm of my hand in it removing most of the ink. SOLUTION: Cover it with a die cut! In this case I used our Circle Scribbles die. See that big white spot - yup hand print! Covers up nicely right?

Next mistake - embossing powder embossed where it doesn't belong. Yes, I used my Embossing Buddy to remove static and moisture but in this humid Florida weather that doesn't always work. So to remove extraneous flakes of heat set powder, gently scrape them off with a craft knife.

The last mistake happens almost every time I make a card - I go out of the lines when coloring. I fix that with a white gel pen. I always, always, always have my white gel pen on hand - ALWAYS lol!!!

So here is the card that resulted from all these mistakes. As I explained earlier - I posted it last week into the Mood Board Event for May.

Thank you for visiting the blog, and I hope you have more confidence in fixing mistakes now.

Craftin Desert Divas and Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

For my card today I blatantly copied a card by Kelly Latevola. I wanted to understand her process so I deconstructed it to make it my own - well more hers than mine lol. I used a digi stamp, Coffee Obsessed and Blessed from Craftin Desert Divas to create this card. I took it apart in my Silhouette software and then constructed the tea cup tower. Rearranging digi stamps is so easy. I highly encourage you to try it. I find the process freeing.

I hope you like the card, and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Craftin Desert Divas and Monochromatic Florals

Hi, I am back on the blog featuring our technique of the week - use a monochromatic theme. I decided to use our Botanical Layers set along with three analogous shades of pigment ink.

Please excuse the following pictures. I had intended to post a video but when I looked at the footage - a whole section was missing!! In my defense this was the third video I had shot that day......ok no excuses.

First, using my Misti and the lightest of the colors I stamped the bottom image of the flower all over the light blue card stock to make a pattern. IT IS IMPORTANT TO HEAT SET BETWEEN LAYERS.

Next, again using my Misti, I stamped the second layer in the mid-tone ink.

A reminder to heat set between layers as we are using pigment inks which sit on the surface of the paper and are not absorbed very far into it.

Next using a regular acrylic block and the darkest ink, I chose the cluster of small dots to stamp the flower center.

In the set there is a filler stamp that is great for adding detail to blank spaces. I used the lightest ink for this step.

For the sentiment I used Versafine Onyx Black and as I had assembled the card, I needed to use an acrylic block. This was obviously not the best of days in the craft room lol!!! The sentiments were from Wishful Thoughts.

I did die cut the panel with the Inside Scalloped Rectangle. I added foam dots to the outside part of the frame and mounted that onto the card stock. Then using a dry adhesive added in the flat center panel.

I hope you liked this card and the long winded tutorial! Thank you for visiting my blog.

Craftin Desert Divas using Washi Tape for Ombre Effect

I am on the blog this morning with a card focusing on our technique of the week - ombre! We all have lots of washi tape or at least I do. While I was deciding on what to do for this post, I happened to have the washi tape drawer open and came up with the idea of using it to make a strip of color for my card.

Here is my card:

First, I selected a range of colors that varies from dark to light. I really wanted to use pink on this very rainy day so I chose these tapes. I cut a strip of paper to 5 1/2" by 1 3/4".

I then wrapped the paper sequentially with each tape starting with the darkest at the bottom. I then adhered the strip to my card base using 1/2" Scor-tape as the back of the strip is very slippery. A strong, dry adhesive is needed.

I then colored the parakeet from Birds of a Feather - love this set. I used YG11, YG13, YG17 and G29 for the greens. For the yellows I used YG00, Y11, Y13, Y17. I attached my bird to a sentiment strip that i heat embossed Happy Birthday from Happy Sentiments. I popped up my bird with foam tape. I added some lime green enamel dots for accents - not sure which brand oops!

Here is my card again:

I hope you like the card and thank you for visiting my blog.

Craftin Desert Divas' May Release Kindness stamp set

For my post today, I have a card I am entering in the Flower Challenge (see link below) using the soon to be released stamp set Kindness from Craftin Desert Divas. I stamped the image three times in striped formation in Versafine Ink on Bazzill heavy weight vellum. I then heat embossed the image using gold embossing powder from Ranger. For the background I simply used the direct ink to paper technique using four pigment inks to achieve an ombre look- Avery Elle Pixie, Raspberry and Cherry along with W Plus 9 Crushed Cranberry. Then sentiment was gold heat embossed onto Bazzill Black Licorice card stock. Very simple card to make!

I am entering this card in The Flower Challenge at for the month of May. The challenge is to use flowers with vellum. Come along and play.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you enjoyed the card!
