Craftin Desert Divas Tutorial on Easel Cards

Hi Everyone,
DT Susan here with tutorial blog post on easel cards for Craftin Desert Divas! I decided to try easel cards since I had never made one which is shocking considering I have been stamping for about 20 years! I also decided to try no line or light line coloring with Copics. I wanted to get my Mom's Mother's Day card made way ahead of time since I am always scrambling at the last minute to make one for her. I have also uploaded a  You Tube Video. For my main stamp set I used Craftin Desert Divas' Botanical layers and I just used the outline images. Here is the card I made!

First, I cut a piece of 110 pound card stock to 4.25 x 11. I scored this at 5.5". Then I scored at 2 3/4" to make the fold for the easel card part.

Then I started my stamping using a light colored die ink, my images, and my Misti. I pre-cut the masks from Eclipse Masking Tape. I could not find my Distress Ink Antique Linen and this is usually the perfect color for no-line coloring.
I then adhered some adhesive from my tape runner to the bottom of the easel fold and attached my card panel to that. I then adhered a stack of hearts to hold up the card front like an easel does.

Supplies are listed and linked below. Thank you for visiting and I hope you liked the card.

Yellow flower - Y11 - Y17, YR18, R17, C3, E09 for the center
Red flower- R12, R32, R17, R35, R89, E07, EO9 and Y13 and BG09 for the center, C3 for cast shadows
Pink Flower: RV0000, RV63, RV66, RV69, R81 and Y13 and RV99 for the center
Leaves: YG11, YG13, YG17, YG91, G20, YG0000, G40, G29
Double check on the video- I may have missed "a few" lol!!!

CDD Monthly Mood Board Challenge

I have an adorable card -well I think so - using the Jellybean Kisses set from the February release and the Bright Horizons stencil and the flower border from the March Release. I thought my little troll needed to be dragging some Easter eggs and a sign behind her drag racing carrot car. I cut the eggs with my Silhouette, added some Copic coloring and different patterns with my white gel pen!

Thank you for stopping by and do not forget to enter the challenge!!

Craftin Desert Divas Stretch Your Stamps: Outline Image to Solid Image

CDD DT Susan here with another CDD tutorial. Today's tutorial is about stretching your stamps. I adapted Lydia Fiedler's tutorial on making outline images into silhouette images to make an ocean scene with the CDD Jawsome set. I used the Stitched Scallops border to create the border between the sky and the sea using several distress inks. Here is my card:

Here is my You Tube video:

Distress Inks Used:
Sky: Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide, Faded Jeans Distress Oxide, Chipped Sapphire. Tumbled Glass and Black Soot
Sea: Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire

First I cut the border from masking paper and a half circle out of masking paper as well. I used Bristol smooth card stock for the base.

I then added 2 layers of ink blending for both the sky and the sea. See distress inks used at top.

Next, I simply colored in my line image with a Copic 100 marker. Unfortunately, I double stamped the image so you can still see the lines. Next time I will use second generation stamping or a lighter ink. Then on the side of the shark closest to the moon I added a white line using my gel pen to indicate a highlight on the image from the moon.

To finish the project off, I added a drop shadow for the image and white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of black card stock using my Misti - you can use any stamp positioner you would like to. Of course, I finished it off with some clear droplets and two googly eyes for my shark lol!!!

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you found this tutorial useful!

Craftin Desert Divas' Just Married

Hi, Here is my second release card for the Just Married - quite possibly my favorite set of this release. I created a twist on the spinner card - a swing card using the bridal couple swinging on the porch! I stamped two of the images and sandwiched them together with pieces of twine to create the swing. I used Copics to color in the image. I used the Fancy Stitched Labels Die to create the sentiment.

Wedding Dress and Veil : E0000 and YR0000
Mice: N0, N3, N5
Groom: W3, W5, W7
Flowers: R81 with YG17 for the leaves.

Craftin Desert Divas' March Release Hitched

I had so much fun making this card. I used our versatile Shake It Up die to make a flat shaker. I filled the shaker with flat sequins and fine glitter. Unfortunately a young friend shook the card before I could film it lol! Please excuse the glitter everywhere!

I hope you like this card and thank you for visiting.

Craftin Desert Divas and Faux Letterpress

DT Susan here with another blog post for Craftin' Desert Divas. Today's tutorial focuses on the faux letterpress technique using a stencil and distress oxides. I really like this technique as it is easy to make multiple cards. I have a You Tube video below to show you how I made this card.

First I created the correct sandwich for my machine which is a Spellbinders Platinum 6. Check your machine for the proper settings. In my machine the stencil goes down first. I used the Party Time Stencil.

Then I layered a piece of linen textured card stock with linen side down on top of the stencil. I adhered this into place with a few pieces of painter's tape. I then placed it in my machine.

Once the image was embossed I laid the stencil back on top being careful to line the embossed images up with the stencil.I then added three shades of distress ink to the balloons - Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide, Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide and Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I left a highlight at the top of each balloon. I then colored my image and assembled the card.

Here is the card again. I hope you liked it. Thank you for stopping by!
