Impression Obsession Die Cut Obsession: A Crabby Tag

As you read this, I will be at the beach with my family and grandchildren. My grandson has a cute little blue bathing suit with crabs all over it. I have seen pictures of him in it all summer. Now I get to see him in person. Anyway his bathing suit is the inspiration for the tag.

My first step was to stamp Holiday Hanger from our Fall/ Winter collection onto Neenah solar white using white embossing powder. This stamp was designed to be a beach themed Christmas garland. However, why not use it as garland for a beach party! Love getting multiple uses out of my stamps.

Using my third largest Life Changing Blender Brush, I added Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch onto the panel. I then die cut it using  tagStitched Tag die.

To make the crab, I die cut all the pieces from Neenah Solar White 80 lb card stock. I colored the pieces in with my Copic Sketch markers R12, R14, R17 and R29. I assembled the crab onto small circle of paper. I popped up the main part using some 3M foam tape. To add the effect of shimmering sand, I added Vintage Photo Distress Stickles and moved it around with my fingers. I set this aside to dry. I then added some googly eyes.

I wanted to make the crab appear to be sitting on sand at his part so I die cut some cream card stock using the tag die. I ended up not using the Stickles on this part because it seemed to take the eye away from the crab. I assembled the tag. I stamped You Are Awesome from Everyday Quotes 1 on the sentiment strip and dangled that from the fabric sky.

Susan
