Impression Obsession Die Cut Obsession Day: Wings To Fly Up

I have been in an empty mojo phase. I rebuilt my wings (see the sentiment) by watching crafty videos and sorting new IO items in my craft room. Sometimes you have to go down before you go up!

This Swallowtail Frame die by Anna Wight from Impression Obsession and a technique from Jennifer McGuire (video here) helped turn that around for me! Head over to the Impression Obsession Blog for more ideas from the design team.

First, I used the Swallowtail Frame die to cut the image from Neenah Solar White 80 lb card stock. I then used Jennifer McGuire's technique for making laminating pouches into window embellisments. I warmed up my Scotch laminator and added sprinkles of various glitters to the inside of the pouch as she shows in her video here! I added a twist to get some color. I used alcohol inks and a straw on the laminated pouch for a watercolor effect. Up close this looks like leaded seed glass. I had so much fun doing this. I have a video coming out later this week on another way to use Jennifer's technique.

I mounted the die cut panel onto a 3 3/4 " x 4 3/4" piece of Neenah Solar White. I tstamped the sentiment from Everyday Quotes 1 using my MISTI and Versafine Onyx Black ink. To complete the card I cut orange and black striped panels and adhered everything to a top folding note card. Again head over to the Impression Obsession Blog to see how the design team rocked this assignment!

  1. I saw JM's video on that technique and wanted to play with it immediately, but then I had to go a week without crafting. Thank you so much for re-inspiring me! I love how your card turned out and anxiously await your video ☺ And don't you just love how the mojo turns up when you start organizing craft supplies? Gotta thank JM again for the whole stamp pocket and label method. Not only does it help finding your stuff easier, but the process makes you want to play with the stuff more than just sticking them in a basket or on a shelf.
