Impression Obsession: Square Cards

 

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today the theme at Impression Obsession is Square Cards. You can find more inspiration on the Impression Obsession Blog. I really love making square cards although the postage can be an issue in some cases. In order to avoid paying extra postage, I make my cards 4.25" x 4.25" or smaller. I will sometimes size up to 5" x 5" and use a 5" x 7" envelope which requires no extra postage.

The image for this card is from the retiring stamp set Hummingbirds and Blooms. Using my MISTI and Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I created a background from Neenah Solar White 80lb card stock. For the flowers, I used RV11, RV13, RV14, YR0000, RV55 and RV63. For the background, I used RV69 and RV99 and Black. I then added texture by soaking a textured cloth in Colorless Blender Solution and applied it all over the background to lift color and add texture. I also lifted color with the Colorless Blender Pen. I darkened some of the areas in the flowers with Prismacolor Blue Indigo. I also added white dots to the stamen with a gel pen. I die cut Hello from 2 pieces of Neenah 110lb card stock and adhered them together for added dimension. I then adhered this to the card with liquid adhesive. I mounted the main panel on two mats to add further dimension to this card. The final card size is 4.5" x 4.5" and will fit in a 5" x 7" envelope.
